Making an Appointment

To make an appointment please call the office on 03 379 5060. The administration team: Grace, Olivia, Elisa or Nikita, will make an appointment at a time that is convenient for you.

You do not need a referral to make an appointment. However, please bring any ACC information, imaging reports, referral letter or splinting you may have been provided to the first appointment.

ACC claims can be registered at the clinic if your condition is the result of an accident*.

We can offer Telehealth appointments for follow up visits in some instances.

*Work related Gradual Process Injuries must be registered with your GP and accepted by ACC or your accredited employer prior to an appointment. You can opt to pay private fees whilst waiting for acceptance of the claim.

At your First Appointment

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for your first appointment with The Hand Therapists to complete the registration form.
You are welcome to bring whanau / support persons.
Please bring any ACC information, imaging reports, referral letters or splinting you may have been provided with to your appointment.
The first appointment is usually 40 minutes duration. It will involve questions about your health and lifestyle, the injury/condition and how it is affecting your ability to participate in activity. Then your therapist will examine the injury/condition. A diagnosis and how it could be treated will be discussed prior to initiating any treatment. You have the right to refuse any suggested examination/treatment options at any time.
Please ask any questions you may have and ensure you understand what has been discussed about your care.
If you have any specific cultural requirements that may assist in your treatment please discuss these with your therapist.

Follow-up Appointments

Follow up appointments are usually 20 – 30 minutes in duration. Extended 40 minute appointments are booked post operatively or if your last appointment was 3-4 months or more ago. A review of the injury/condition and any treatment will take place and be progressed or modified as required. Again, you have the right to refuse any suggested treatment.
